Do you tell yourself your tired, exhausted or that you can’t handle something? If so, watch your thoughts, they create reality.

Have you ever told yourself something like: “I’m tired”, “I’m exhausted”, “This is HARD”  or “I CAN’T” in general about anything in life?

Have you ever told yourself that around taking care of your body, choosing healthy foods, moving your body in a way that supports your health long-term?

Especially as an introvert, I’ve been thinking a lot lately about what I tell myself in my quiet, alone, think time.

Last weekend, I found myself telling myself those things I mentioned above: I’M TIRED, I’M EXHAUSTED, THIS IS HARD…

Oh the beautiful irony…you know what happened right?  Our brains are wired to look for, focus on, & create more of what we think about & fixate on…so…

When I told myself “I’M TIRED”, guess what that created more of? BEING TIRED!

When I told myself, “I”M EXHAUSTED”, guess what that created more of? BEING EXHAUSTED.

When I told myself, “THIS IS HARD”…you guessed it…my brain went to work to focus on & find ways that “THIS IS HARD!”

When we tell ourselves something like I’M SO TIRED, OR I’M SO TIRED OF THIS OR THIS IS HARD…our brains go to work looking for ways & reasons THAT IT IS HARD…

Ask yourself, when was the last time you told yourself a version of these things around losing weight? Around going to exercise? Around choosing food that serves your body for health instead of just instant gratifying sugar/fat/flour highs?

AND ALL THIS CREATES IS A SUCK ON OUR BRAIN ENERGY, EVAPORATES OUR WILL POWER & KEEPS US STUCK WHERE WE ARE.

(THINK OF IT AS AN OLD PHONE WITH A BATTERY THAT IS REALLY INEFFICIENT & IT SUCKS THE BATTERY JUICE/ENERGY UP SOOOO QUICKLY.)

AND IN THE JOURNEY TOWARDS WEIGHT-LOSS.  OR ANY CHANGE, IT WILL OFTEN CREATE MORE EMOTIONAL OVEREATING, MORE OVER-SPENDING, MORE OVER FACE-BOOKING, MORE OVER YOU-TUBING…WHATEVER IT IS THAT YOUR BRAIN GRAVITATES TO AT THE TIME.

So, I had a good talking with myself this last weekend about not telling myself “I’M TIRED”.

I listed out all the thoughts I was thinking about being tired & the “hardness” of the task at hand, I observed them & realized I was creating MORE OF WHAT I DID NOT WANT.

I WAS CREATING MORE FEELINGS OF BEING TIRED, OF BEING EXHAUSTED, OF IT BEING HARD…

IT WAS A HIT MY FOREHEAD MOMENT

 – WITH LOVE OF COURSE!

SO…I promised myself to stop telling myself that I was tired. I started saying, “welcome feeling of tired”, I feel AMAZING, I FEEL AMAZING, I FEEL AMAZING…and I did start to feel less tired!

I invite all of us to stop telling ourselves that we are tired, that we are exhausted, that it is hard, that we can’t because our brains will just create more of that.

Instead, focus on what is great about that moment or what is perfect about what is going on or what you’d really like to be feeling instead…then focus on that.

Focus on things like…

What if weight-loss was easy?
What if it could be fun?
How could it be fun?
How could it be easy?
Ask yourself those questions instead!
