I WANT TO NOT WANT IT
I WANT TO NOT WANT THAT FOOD
Have you ever felt so compelled to grab those treats, sweet, salty or fried that it felt almost like you were doing it against your will or better judgment?

Have you ever grabbed those treats knowing that you’d beat yourself up later but did it any way?

Have you ever thought about wanting to not want it?

One of my master coaches decided she wanted to want to not drink any more. Whatever your opinion is on this is totally fine & neutral. My point here is the desire she was working to create:

She wanted to not want it.

Holy cow. This hit me big time this week.

There is so much power in CHOOSING TO THINK ON PURPOSE:

I WANT TO NOT WANT IT.

I have to share a quick story.  As many of you know, after my food struggles ended, shopping at TJ MAXX, Ross & Amazon popped up as a ways to avoid emotions instead of eating.

Going shopping requires hardly any mental energy…let’s be honest. CLICK THAT AMAZON BUTTON, SHOT OF DOPAMINE. AVOID EMOTION. THE END. BAM. EASY, QUICK, EFFICIENT. THE ONLY THING IS THAT IT’S NOT WHAT MY HIGHEST SELF REALLY WANTS. MY HIGHEST SELF WANTS TO TAKE CARE OF MY MONEY & NOURISH MY MONEY. NOT GIVE IT ALL TO AMAZON.

This is really normal. When we build new neural pathways to build new habits in one area, our brain will still keep being a human brain. This means it just will look for the next, most efficient (AKA easiest, AKA survival instincts) way to deal with our emotions. To train ourselves to actually feel & work through our feelings requires more mental energy, more mental work – AKA taking your brain to the gym to lift the “metaphorical weights”—which is how we create new neural pathways & habits.

So, I’ve been working with a coach on this & doing my own self-coaching through writing down all my thoughts & analyzing what results they are creating.

And this week, I felt my brain start to change.

After doing some coaching on myself, my brain started to say: I WANT TO NOT WANT TO SHOP.

HOLY COW. THIS HAS MADE A HUGE DIFFERENCE FOR ME.

AND I WANT TO SHARE IT SO YOU CAN USE IT IF YOU FIND IT HELPFUL. I BELIEVE YOU WILL.

I have had urges this week to want to shop & I lovingly told myself:

I WANT TO NOT WANT IT. I WANT TO NOT WANT TO SHOP.

AS SOON AS I SAID THAT TO MYSELF, MY URGE PASSED.

I EVEN WENT TO ROSS WITH 1 THING PLANNED TO BUY (a new suitcase because my old one died) and nothing else in the store really looked appealing enough to give it energy.

So, those of you on the weight-loss journey…notice where your brain is at. If you are starting to have new, stronger habits around food, watch for any new ways your brain will want you to avoid emotion easily.

SUPER NORMAL.

NOTHING HAS GONE WRONG.

JUST ASK YOURSELF HOW CAN I WANT TO NOT WANT THIS (IF IT’S SOMETHING THAT WILL HAVE A NET NEGATIVE FOR YOU).

For those of you on the weight-loss journey who are just starting to build new habits, just notice when your brain wants to grab food to avoid feeling something.

NOTHING’S GONE WRONG.

YOUR BRAIN JUST WANTS TO GET THE FASTEST DOPAMINE HIT POSSIBLE.

DONUTS DO IT REALLY FAST – BUT THEY HAVE A NET NEGATIVE HEALTH CONSEQUENCE.

YOU CAN TOTALLY START TO PRACTICE THE IDEA OF:

I WANT TO NOT WANT FOOD THAT DOESN’T SUPPORT ME IN MY IDEAL WEIGHT.

OR

I WANT TO NOT WANT FOOD THAT WON’T MAKE ME FEEL NOURISHED, ENERGIZED AND VITALIZED.

OR

I WANT TO NOT WANT BROWNIES, COOKIES, ICE CREAM, CHIPS ETC.

CAN YOU IMAGINE THAT…WHAT IF YOU JUST STARTED CONSIDERING THAT IT MAY BE POSSIBLE

TO NOT WANT THOSE THINGS…

THINK OF THE SELF-CONFIDENCE, SELF-TRUST & SELF-LOVE YOU WOULD DEVELOP…

IT IS POSSIBLE…

I LOVE YOU HAVE A WONDERFUL WEEK!!
