CLEAN UP YOUR BRAIN AROUND FOOD WITH ONE KILLER,

In the last post I talked about an example of separating facts from thoughts. 

This is important because our thoughts cause our feelings. And our feelings will drive our actions.  

This is paramount to understand in the emotional eating process because if we can unravel what we are thinking, we can see what it’s causing us to feel & why we are grabbing the bag of cheese puffs or pan of brownies. AND THEN BE ABLE TO HAVE GREATER ACCESS TO CHOICE & HEALING.

I want to share a powerful tool to start to TO SEPARATE FACTS FROM THOUGHTS so that we can figure out what we are feeling & then have access to some choice around emotional eating, instead of just having survival brain grab the treats.

KILLER POWERFUL TOOL: THOUGHT DOWNLOAD

WE ALL HAVE SO MANY THOUGHTS THAT HAVE BROUGHT US TO WHERE WE ARE TODAY WITH OUR BODIES. WE NEED TO CLEAN HOUSE. 

I INVITE YOU TO CLEAN OUT YOUR BRIAN BY DOING A THOUGHT DOWNLOAD. WHAT’S A THOUGHT DOWNLOAD?

Start by writing down all your thoughts about something that is occurring in your life or something that is upsetting you.

DOWNLOAD IT ALL ON PAPER, YOUR COMPUTER OR YOUR NOTES SECTION ON YOUR PHONE (PAPER AND COMPUTER ARE EASIER 😊). DOWNLOAD ALL THAT THOUGHT SOFTWARE RUNNING IN THE BACK GROUND.

YOUR BRAIN MAY HAVE GONE TO A PLACE LIKE MINE USED TO? YOU MIGHT BE  BE THINKING: OH MAN, ANOTHER LADY WHO IS GOING TO TELL ME TO JOURNAL. UGH! 

THAT’S WHAT I ALWAYS THOUGHT WHEN SOMEONE TOLD ME TO WRITE THINGS DOWN!

NOPE, I’M NOT GOING TO MAKE ANYONE JOURNAL.

YOU HAVE A CHOICE TO THINK THAT I’M ANOTHER LADY TELLING YOU TO JOURNAL OR YOU CAN REMEMBER ALL THOUGHTS ARE OPTIONAL & YOU CAN CHOOSE THE THOUGHT: I HATE JOURNALING, HERE’S ANOTHER LADY TRYING TO MAKE ME JOURNAL….

OR

YOU COULD CHOOSE to be curious as to why you think that-why do you think ugh, I don’t want to write things down.

LET ME OFFER YOU SOMETHING:  What if it’s totally OK to not want to write it down.

And what if it’s totally OK to not do it. 

And what if it’s totally OK just give it a try for say, 5 minutes. The end.

YOU COULD CHOOSE to think that writing it down is a fascinating investigative tool.

YOU COULD CHOOSE TO THINK “I’m going to be a detective of my own mind.” (Did you always want to be Nancy Drew like me? Now you can be! A detective of your own mind!)

This is where I see writing these days: an amazing tool to learn: HOLY COW!! IT’S SUCH A FASCINATING DETECTIVE EXPERIENCE. I DO GET TO BE THE NANCY DREW OF MY OWN BRAIN!  

COME BE NANCY DREW OR SHERLOCK HOLMES OF YOUR BRAINS WITH ME!!

THEN…JUST WRITE YOUR THOUGHTS DOWN AND PUT THEM IN 2 COLUMNS, FACTS & THOUGHTS…WHAT WERE THE ACTUAL FACTS YOU COULD “MOST PEOPLE WOULD AGREE ON” & WHAT ARE THE THOUGHTS YOU ARE THINKING ABOUT THOSE FACTS?


THE NEXT STEP IS AFTER LOOKING AT THE THOUGHTS, IS TO ASK YOURSELF WHAT DOES EACH THOUGHT MAKE YOU FEEL, THIS IS THE NEXT LAYER OF UNRAVELING THE SOFTWARE IN YOUR BRAIN & GIVING YOURSELF FREEDOM TO CHOOSE YOUR THOUGHTS & RESULTS.
